==History==
MicroStrategy was founded in 1989 by Michael J. Saylor, and Analytics was the flagship product. The idea for software for data mining and business intelligence using nonlinear mathematics, was inspired by a course that Saylor took at MIT.
In 1992, the company gained its first major Analytics customer when it signed a $10 million contract with McDonald's.〔
The first six versions successively introduced 2-Tier ROLAP, 3-Tier ROLAP, a web Interface, email alerts and wireless alerts.
In 2000, the company announced a complete revision of the Analytics platform, with the release of MicroStrategy 7. Enhancements were made to improve the scalability of the product, improve alert capabilities and simplify queries using everyday language.
In November 2003, MicroStrategy added enterprise reporting capabilities, data scorecards and dashboard features to the product.
By the fourth quarter of 2003, Analytics helped the company add over 200 new corporate customers.
In January 2005, MicroStrategy 8 was announced, adding data mining and analysis capabilities.
In 2009, with the release of MicroStrategy 9, the company introduced OLAP Services with a shared data set cache, to accelerate reports and ad hoc queries. The relational nature of the OLAP services allowed users to drill down through the database to the transaction-level detail.
In 2010, MicroStrategy began integrating Analytics capabilities into new solutions for mobile platforms, such as the iPhone and iPad. This new platform was called MicroStrategy Mobile. In 2011, the company also combined Analytics features with cloud computing capabilities, for a new service called MicroStrategy Cloud.
In Fall 2013, MicroStrategy introduced the Analytics visual data discovery engine, which allowed users to import data from flat files and connect to enterprise databases. The product came in two versions: a free version called Analytics Desktop, and a version with more advanced features called Analytics Enterprise. The company also announced Analytics Express, a free for one year cloud version of their software, allowing the sharing of dashboards and datasets created in Analytics Desktop.〔
In January 2014, the company announced a new feature for Analytics called PRIME, a massively parallel, in-memory analytics service.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title= MicroStrategy Rolls Out Analytics Solutions for Cloud, Mobile Information-Driven Apps )〕 PRIME, which stands for Parallel Relational In-Memory Engine, was developed in conjunction with Facebook, and is a way to analyze multi-dimensional queries faster than traditional OLAP.
